Digital Report: The Impact of Tariffs on Scientific Markets – Challenges and Opportunities for Suppliers

Global trade tensions are prompting new tariffs and export restrictions that could reverberate through the scientific industry. To find out how biopharma and biotech companies, as well as academic researchers are responding, we surveyed 162 scientists, lab managers, and procurement professionals across industry and academia. The results reveal widespread concern that tariffs will drive up costs and disrupt supplies, even before policies take effect. Many labs are already taking action in anticipation of price hikes. But not all of these actions are negative for scientific suppliers in the short or long term, as we see opportunities to leverage these dynamics to drive revenues. This eBook distills our survey findings and offers insights for instrument, lab equipment, consumables, and service suppliers. It highlights how tariffs shape researchers’ perceptions, how those perceptions in turn shape purchasing decisions, and what suppliers can do commercially to navigate these challenges.
